Disclosures of gender-based violence can be direct (deliberate) or indirect (unintentional). Swipe through to learn more about how disclosures may appear and how to recognize them.

Direct disclosures are often intentional, seeking support or validation. Survivors are typically aware of their abuse and trust the person they’re confiding in.

Indirect disclosures are more subtle, often made through casual remarks, jokes, or hypothetical questions. They may be easy to miss, but still signal that someone may need support.
